Guangzhou, the capital of Guangdong province, was hit by some of the heaviest rainfall in over a century, causing severe flooding and widespread disruption. Streets turned into rivers, flights were canceled, and over 75,000 people were evacuated due to rising water levels and landslides. The flood also triggered a chikungunya outbreak linked to mosquito breeding in stagnant water. Authorities launched large-scale rescue efforts, suspended public services, and allocated over 1 billion yuan for emergency relief and recovery.
