Severe widespread flooding hit parts of central China on July 16 and 17, 2024, as record-breaking torrential rains, with up to a year’s worth in 24 hours.

The cities of Luohe, Nanyang, Zhoukou, and Xuchang were hit by record-breaking torrential rains.

Fifteen provinces were placed under full emergency alert amid heightened risks of severe flooding.
