Watch the complete construction of BioMed Realty's Assembly Innovation Park in Somerville, Massachusetts. EarthCam documented the construction of the Phase I development over the span of 2 ½ years, from the groundbreaking in January 2022 to its completion in November 2024. Phase I features a 500,000 SF lab/office building, a one-acre public park, and a nine-story parking structure that features 1,247 spaces and a new fire station for the City of Somerville. BioMed’s design team demonstrated a strong commitment to this project’s sustainability and holistic wellness, having recently achieved LEED Platinum certification, in addition to targeting WELL certification for the core-shell. This premier development represents Phase I of a 1.5 million square foot master plan that envisions three class A lab and office buildings surrounding a central open space in the heart of Assembly Square. Once complete, Assembly Innovation Park will be a world-class, urban life sciences destination dedicated to cutting-edge research and discovery.
