On the night of June 3, 2025, a 5.8-magnitude earthquake struck near Marmaris in Turkey’s Muğla province. The tremor occurred at 02:17 local time and was felt in surrounding provinces including İzmir, Aydın, and Antalya. According to AFAD, the earthquake originated at a depth of approximately 68 kilometers. At least 69 people were injured, and a 14-year-old boy died due to a panic attack. There were no reports of major structural damage, but many residents fled their homes in fear. Emergency teams responded quickly, and temporary shelters were set up for those affected. Authorities urged citizens to stay calm, as aftershocks remained possible in the coming days.
