Days after September 11, 2001, EarthCam Founder and CEO Brian Cury installed a camera overlooking Ground Zero to support rescue and recovery efforts with live-streaming video. For a quarter of a century, EarthCam cameras became witnesses to an extraordinary story of recovery, renewal and rebuilding.

“We arrived at Ground Zero because we believed our technology could help, and we stayed because we understood how important it was to preserve this history,” said Brian Cury, founder and CEO of EarthCam. "Visually documenting the most important 16 acres in America is one of the greatest responsibilities and privileges in EarthCam’s 30-year history.”

"We Never Left" tells the story of EarthCam’s 25-year connection to the World Trade Center site through Cury’s personal account of EarthCam’s involvement at Ground Zero and the decision to continue documenting the site for decades to come.

Over the decades that followed, generations of EarthCam technology captured an archive of over 14.7 million images documenting the transformation of the site, from the aftermath of September 11 through the construction of the new World Trade Center and the changing Lower Manhattan skyline.

Twenty-five years later, EarthCam is still there, documenting the ongoing construction of 2 World Trade Center and preserving a visual record that continues to grow.
