Environment Canada issued a winter storm warning for Ontario on Friday evening, calling for 10 to 25 centimeters of snow by Saturday morning.

The forecast predicts peak snowfall rates of five to eight centimeters per hour. Snow is expected to fall heavily at times but is expected to turn to rain later Friday night as temperatures rise above freezing.

In addition to snow, strong wind gusts are also expected to significantly reduce visibility. Some residents also reported seeing lightning when it snowed, a phenomenon commonly called thundersnow.
