An earthquake measuring 5.6 on the Richter scale was felt this January 19 in the municipality of Ansermanuevo, located in the Valle del Cauca department, according to information released by the Geological Service of Colombia (SGC).

The earthquake occurred at 06.26 AM with a depth of 33 kilometers. Social media users claimed the vibrations were felt for several minutes. Even though the epicenter of the earthquake in Colombia was in Valle del Cauca, residents from various parts of the country reported the movement.

Minutes later, an aftershock measuring 3.7 and a shallow depth of less than 30 kilometers was recorded, according to information released by the Colombian Geological Service.
