A strange meteorological phenomenon hit the city of Cartago, Costa Rica, on Saturday, dropping an enormous amount of rain and hail, accompanied by winds of more than 50 km/h, which left hundreads of homes affected.

Images released on social networks showed how rainwater entered a supermarket. Several neighbors also reported damage to the Fello Meza del Cartaginés Stadium.

The National Meteorological Institute (IMN) explained that it was the atmospheric phenomenon that affected the province of Cartago this Saturday afternoon and that caused havoc due to strong gusts of wind, rain and hail.
