This project documents the construction of a stone dugout shelter built over the course of 100 days on the slope of a mountain, using only natural materials, simple hand tools, and patient, methodical labor. Rather than following modern construction methods, the builder relies on stone, wood, and earth drawn directly from the surrounding environment, shaping a dwelling that grows naturally out of the landscape instead of being imposed upon it. Each stage of the build reflects a conscious choice to work slowly, deliberately, and in direct dialogue with the terrain.

More than a shelter, the project explores a freer way of life rooted in self-reliance, bushcraft knowledge, and an older understanding of how humans once built and lived. Every element is shaped by hand, leaving visible traces of labor and decision-making that give the structure both character and honesty.

As the shelter takes form, it evolves into a livable space that balances function and comfort, blending interior warmth with outdoor living. Features such as the wooden terrace and the handcrafted outdoor bathtub extend daily life into the open air, reinforcing a slower rhythm guided by nature, weather, and effort rather than speed or convenience.
