Mississippi, USA in ruins! Powerful tornado sweeps through buildings in Columbia

A tornado struck the town of Columbia, Mississippi, on Wednesday, as residents snapped videos of the tornado as it moved quickly through the southern part of the state. Many of the town's roughly 5,000 residents watched the tornado unfold and captured the devastating event on their phones.

Eleven homes in the Lake View area were damaged, according to the Marion County EMA. The storm downed trees and power lines. The storm also damaged two to three businesses, including Beacon Supply Hardware on US 98 in Columbia. According to the Pearl River Valley EPA, 119 customers were without power as of Wednesday evening. Damage from the storm was also reported in Wayne County.
