Ireland is braced to suffer the most violent Atlantic storm in generations as Storm Éowyn swept in to batter the country. The National Emergency Co-ordination Group said Storm Eowyn would be one of the “most severe” Ireland has experienced.

Met Eireann warned of storms of “incredible intensity”. Met Éireann have recorded a record-breaking gust in Galway at their 5am data observations. A max gust of 183kmh was recorded at Mace Head, this smashes the previous Irish record of 182kmh.
