Tsunami-like waves hit China today! Typhoon Ragasa unleashes its fury on Hong Kong

Typhoon Ragasa, the most powerful storm in the world so far this year, slammed into Hong Kong early Wednesday, flooding coastal areas and lashing the city with pelting rain and powerful winds that toppled trees. Netizen reported on the ground saw sea swells pounding the sidewalk near Hong Kong’s iconic harbor.

Video circulating on social media appeared to show storm surges shattering the glass doors of a seaside hotel. In Heng Fa Chuen, strong winds cause an air conditioner to fall from a building, while trees and lamp posts are toppled. It has since weakened slightly, but another typhoon called Opong is now intensifying in the Philippines in the aftermath of Ragasa.
