Kumamoto Prefecture has experienced record-breaking heavy rain, including the formation of linear rain bands, and reports of damage are pouring in one after another. In response to the record-breaking heavy rain, Kumamoto Prefecture established a disaster response headquarters at the prefectural office in the early hours of the 11th to gather information.

According to the prefecture, as of 11:00 a.m. on the 11th, 35 of the prefecture's 45 municipalities had opened evacuation centers, with a total of 743 households and 1,694 people evacuated to these centers. According to police, fire departments, and local governments in Kumamoto Prefecture, they have received numerous reports of flood damage caused by the heavy rain, and of cars being immobilized due to flooded roads across Kumamoto Prefecture.
