Italy is in chaos right now! Cars stuck, severe flooding in Portoferraio

A powerful storm has hit the Elba Island region in recent hours, especially in Portoferraio, with numerous floods endangering dozens of people. Many people were trapped by the rising waters in homes in the island's main town, Portoferraio, and in cars.

The most serious problem occurred on via Cementiera, provincial road 24 that runs from the port to the Boni intersection. Here the houses on the side of the road were submerged due to the large amount of water, since they are slightly below the road level. Civil Protection provided assistance to citizens. All volunteer teams and other forces on the ground were involved.
