A major flooding has been declared in South Wales after dozens of homes, businesses and a number of schools were affected by flooding during Storm Bert. The flooding took place across the region including but not limited to Risca, Ebbw Vale, Abertillery, Newport, Abergavenny, Monmouthshire, Abersychan and Blackwood.

The flooding throughout Newport disrupted local bus services and train lines between Abergavenny and Pontypool were completely blocked. The River Taff has burst its banks in Pontypridd, and residents in the town were seen using buckets to remove water from outside their homes.
