A severe storm with damaging winds, prompting tornado alerts, passed through Houston and surrounding areas late Thursday, leaving behind a trail of damage.

Severe storms pummeled southeastern Texas on Thursday for the second time this month, blowing out windows in high-rise buildings, downing trees and leaving more than 1 million customers without power.

The local National Weather Service office issued several Tornado Warnings for the Houston metro but by the time the storms cleared, it was strong winds that are believed to have caused most of the damage.
