China's major rivers overflow! Bridges and buildings sink, thousands evacuated

Heavy rains since July 27 have caused major flooding in the Amnok River, which has stranded more than 5,000 people in North Korea as of July 30, 2024. The river, known as the Yalu River in China, forms part of the border between China and North Korea.

From Friday to Sunday, the city of Dandong on the lower reaches of the Yalu River was lashed by heavy rain, causing 12 reservoirs and five rivers to exceed warning levels.
