Philippines is underwater! Floods turn streets into rivers in Manila, people evacuated

Flooding from heavy rains from Tropical Depression Isang and the intensified southwest monsoon stranded commuters and forced the suspension of classes in Metro Manila on Friday. Roads were not passable to smaller vehicles, with reports of knee-deep floods at Kalaw Street and Taft Avenue, and gutter-deep waters in the Baseco and Finance Road areas.

The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) announced six cancelled and three diverted flights as of noon yesterday. At the Skyway elevated section, a traffic jam in the Bicutan area extended 3.5 kilometers, while the congestion along the Alabang Extension reached 2.5 kilometers.
