A strong winter storm is battering parts of Hawaii Thursday morning, downing trees and triggering widespread power outages. Kauai was getting the brunt of the storm early Thursday morning, with damaging winds and thunderstorms. Heavy rains began to pound Oahu and Maui counties around 11 a.m.

Fallen trees crush cars on busy Honolulu roads. Strong winds knocked over a tree and destroyed a bus stop on Wilhelmina Rise. Rushing water was also seen flooding the road. On Oahu, Hawaiian Electric is responding to numerous outages islandwide. Rushing water was also seen flooding the road.
