Manila, Philippines is sinking! Flash floods sweep away cars, streets become rivers

Several streets in Metro Manila have been experiencing floods on Saturday evening due to heavy rains, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) said. The rains that began around 4:30 p.m. rendered several streets not passable to light vehicles.

Videos taken by netizens showed that Jalan Banawe in Quezon City was submerged in severe flooding, with water levels reaching chest height. In addition, several parts of Sampaloc, Manila experienced deep flooding of gutters and almost knee-deep water due to heavy and continuous rains this afternoon, June 21.
