Snow has fallen in parts of South Africa, with the Eastern Cape and KwaZulu-Natal experiencing severe weather and residents warned to avoid roads. The South African Weather Service (Saws) said the cold conditions on Friday would affect the eastern part of the country, including Lesotho, parts of the Eastern Cape and western KwaZulu-Natal.

Road users are urged to avoid travelling on the N3 toll road near the Van Reenen Pass, between the Free State and KwaZulu-Natal, due to hazardous weather conditions. a Level 2 snow warning has been issued for parts of Ugu, uThukela, uMgungundlovu, Harry Gwala and Amajuba districts.
