Chaos continues in Japan! Extreme blizzard leaves homes and cars buried under snow

Today, low pressure and fronts are moving eastward, creating a strong winter-type pressure pattern around Japan with high pressure in the west and low pressure in the east. There are areas in northern Japan and Hokuriku where the maximum instantaneous wind speed is around 30 m/s, and caution is needed against strong winds and blizzards that will continue into the night.

There is also a risk of blizzards in northern Japan, where snow is falling. The snowfall in the 12 hours up to 10am is 25cm in Sukayu, Mori Prefecture, 24cm in Sounkyo, Hokkaido, 11cm in Sapporo, and 10cm in Hirosaki, Mori Prefecture.
